Ultramarathon

Coaching

I see you. You are tempted by the idea of finally signing up for that ultramarathon but nervous about how much training time it will really take.

Not just the long runs but prioritising time to get to event specific trails, squeezing in strength training and not to mention dealing with all the gear and logistics that come with training for ultramarathons.

Balancing the hours of training for an ultramarathon around working full time, spending time with the family and having a social life is tough.

But running is a part of who you are.

You want to challenge your limits. You just want to do hard things. For you the achievement isn’t about being the fastest, it’s about enduring and realising what you’re truly capable of.

What if you could train for an ultramarathon on as little as 6 hours of training time per week?

Because you already have enough time required to train. The relationship between marathon and ultramarathon training is not linear. You just need to make the most of the limited time you do have available.

  • You stood on the start line of your ultramarathon feeling totally relaxed and brimming with confidence that you are as prepared as possible to handle all the potential stressors of your event?

  • You thrived from a training programme that integrates and addresses all the crucial components to make sure every hour and every interval of your limited training time counts?

  • You saved endless time and money buying and testing kit because you have an expert who stays on top of the latest gear launches and can share tried and tested kit from other female athletes?

  • You made balancing training around the daily juggle a breeze because you had a flexible training schedule that could cope with all of the challenges that life throws your way?

  • You stopped wasting time with ineffective workouts and poorly planned off the shelf training programs and started making the most of your limited training time?

  • You started enjoying training because you accepted ultramarathon success takes time and is more about the process rather than how long it takes you to cross the finish line?

  • You want to challenge your limits and chase your biggest dreams and you want someone on your side who believes it’s possible for you.

  • You’re in it for the long haul and not just looking to tick the ultramarathon box. Coaching commitments with me start from 6 months.

  • You’re willing to put in the time and commit to the program. Ultramarathon success takes time, consistency and patience are key in endurance sports.

  • You want someone who will treat your training like you’re a pro, whether you’re a back or front of the pack runner. You deserve more than a cookie cutter training plan.

  • You want someone who’s been exactly where you are and knows what it takes to juggle ultramarathon training, a full time job, family commitments and a personal life.

How do you know I’m the right ultrarunning coach for you?

  • Most of the women I support are limited by training time in some way and I understand that training can sometimes take a back seat.

Whilst training volume will vary largely week by week, i’ll work with you closely to ensure we make every hour of your limited training time count.

For more information on minimum training time for key ultramarathon distances, read the article below.

  • All HWC athletes can sign for a minimum of a 6 or 12 month term.

The investment for each of these terms are the same at £150/m.

If you choose a 12-month term you’ll get access to a free 2 hour full body movement MOT where you’ll receive a personalised strength training plan and also a free 45 minute physiotherapy consultation (online or in-person) with HWC partners.

  • Yes! I work will all levels of runners from women who are just getting started with their first 50K right up to others training for 100-mile mountain ultramarathon races such as the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc.

  • Unfortunately these things happen. This is run on a case by case basis and I will consider pausing run coaching for long standing injuries greater than 3 months.

If you sign up to the 12-month term you’ll get access to one free 45-minute physiotherapy session (online or in-person) with HWC partner physiotherapist, Lucy Sacarello.

  • No but it is helpful in scheduling and reviewing workouts to ensure you get the most out of your session. I’d be happy to provide GPS running watch recommendations based on your needs and budget.

  • Once we’ve had our discovery call and decided on a coaching start date, i’ll start with the onboarding process.

You’ll receive an initial intake form and i’ll start set up of your training plan.

You’ll typically receive your schedule in 2 week blocks and the sessions will be loaded into TrainingPeaks. When you complete the sessions, the data from you GPS watch will sync into TrainingPeaks.

Feedback and analysis on training sessions are discussed on TrainingPeaks or in our monthly coaching sessions.

  • Yes. The training programme you receive is designed for you and your ultramarathon goal right down to the individual workouts and intensities.

This doesn’t mean you can’t train with friends or a local running club but if you do I would always encourage you to stay true to your training program.

-Mina Janeska, Centurion Running South Downs Way 100

“Knowing how much we prepared, I went into my first 100 mile ultramarathon totally relaxed and confident.

Hannah invests a lot of time in getting to know her athletes strengths. It has been an incredible journey and I can’t wait to start training together for the next big goal in my calendar!”

“Hannah helped me from never having run an ultramarathon to finishing Marathon des Sables.”

Being a busy mum of two young children, I was worries how i’d fit in all the training but with Hannah’s support, I arrived at the start feeling fully prepared.

Hannah is awesome at making the training work around you which was absolutely essential to me. I placed higher than I ever imagined, thank you!

- Sarah Holland, Marathon des Sables

“With Hannah’s help, I had complete confidence that I could finish my first 50 mile ultramarathon successfully.”

Hannah made the training fit seamlessly into my daily schedule and her flexible approach meant there was never any undue pressure during the entire training block.

- Lynne Dixon, Lakeland 50 & 100
